Tim Francis - Director/Chief Buyer
Tim has been a full time stamp dealer since leaving Sheffield University in 1981 with an honours degree in medieval history. After periods of employment with Stephen Braham Ltd and Royale Stamp Company, Tim teamed up with Rick to found Apex Auctions in 1994. A GB and Commonwealth specialist, Tim has always travelled extensively, especially in the USA and Europe and is well known throughout the philatelic world. His main interests are sport and the outdoors, particularly hiking, cycling, cricket and rugby (and is an Everton supporter when they are doing well), theatre and fine dining. Married with 2 children, Tim lives in Kingston.
Rick Warren - Director
Rick has been a full-time stamp professional all his working life, already actively trading in the late 1960's whilst still at school. Opting to join the wholesale firm of Eastamps (Chesham) in 1971 rather than going to university, he was subsequently employed in 1973 by Harry Allen, in 1974 by B. Alan Ltd before setting up on his own in 1980 as R. Warren Ltd, dealing mostly in approvals. In 1994 he set up Apex Philatelics Ltd with Tim Francis, which ran both public and postal auctions. Rick is multi-lingual and the current chairman of the Philatelic Traders' Society, sits on the Executive Committee of the International Federation of Stamp Dealers' Associations (IFSDA) and is well known on the international stamp circuit. Interests outside philately include fishing (freshwater, fly or deep sea) and football (passionate supporter of Peterborough United), current affairs and real ale. Not necessarily in that order.
Josh Barber - Auction Manager/Describer
Josh has been buying and selling at auction for several years, having been involved from a young age in collecting an eclectic mix of Victorian ephemera and natural history artefacts. He brought his passion for the auction process with him when he joined Apex and subsequently developed an interest in Philately. Josh is often your first point of contact at Mayfair Philatelic. Outside work he is a keen runner and can often be found running the streets and heath of NW3 or frequenting the many fine pubs in the area.
